Masouleh is the most famous staircase village in Iran which is located at a distance of 35 km from Fooman, 60 km from Rasht and 1050 meter above the Caspian Sea. The most dazzling feature of Masouleh is its architecture. The buildings have been built into the mountain and are interconnected so that the roofs of houses on lower tiers are used as yards for houses on the tiers above them. In some cases, Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. Due to its unique layout, motor vehicles are forbidden in the village and made it a nice calm place.
In addition, most window boxes are filled with all kinds of beautiful flowers so walking in the village will be enjoyable. Furthermore, most of the village houses are clay or yellow to be visible in foggy weather.
